After your usual early morning wake-up call with a cup of coffee and biscuits, head into the bush hoping to see one more time a pack of wild dogs and other predators before you leave for your final destination: Chobe National Park.
You will be met at Savute airstrip by the lodge team and transferred to Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge, a tented oasis set on the banks of the Savute Channel and considered the perfect base to discover the wonders of Chobe National Park.
The game viewing offered by the team at Savute Elephant Lodge is an experience not to be missed, especially if you are visiting in the summer months, after November’s first rains when thousands of animals are drawn to the area.
Savute Elephant Lodge’s highlights are its concentrations of Lion and Hyena, as well as its Leopard, Cheetah, Black-Backed Jackal and the many lone Elephant bulls, usually seen frequenting their favourite watering holes.
Game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles are conducted in the Savute area, including the Savute Marsh. You will most likely see nearly all the major species in the area, such as giraffe, zebra, impala, tsessebe, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland, as well as elephants and predators mentioned above.
On game drives in the park, listen out for the roar of roaming lions. Watch as the leopard and cheetah sprint across the Savute Channel. You may even enjoy a rare sighting of the rock-climbing klipspringers or the second-largest zebra migration in Africa, Explore baobab groves and ancient Bushmen paintings at Gubatsa Hills.
As night falls on the Savute Channel, gather around our campfire and experience a traditional Boma ritual. Watch the flames as a choir serenade with traditional songs and our chef serve African specialities. Learn and dance to rhythms handed down through generations as this marvellous communal experience comes to a close.
